daniel bemberger.

born 1974 in klagenfurt/austria, he now lives and works in vienna. he made his first steps in music as a bass player in an independent band in the early nineties. then he moved to vienna for the study of biology in 1995. two years later he changed to the university of applied arts, studying media art. there he got engaged in music from a new point of view by using a four track machine, a short wave receiver and lots of audio tapes to create ambient tracks. buying records of different music styles led him directly to dj`ing (1997), sticking with electronica and instrumental hip hop for the dj sets.

the purchase of a computer and turntables brought him to an intense practice of sampling and the creation of his first composed tracks. after some time he settled down to techno - and housebeat structures as a dj and also as a producer. his first release (donaupark ep) on sub static records came out in 2002 and in the same year, he graduated  from the university. from this moment on he totaly focused on music production, improving the method of sampling and the use of field recordings.

after some eps on labels like karloff rekordings and boogizm, he released his debut album "peron" on background records in 2004, attracting international music press’ interest (wire, spex, raveline, de bug). this also brought him as a dj to france, germany, the netherlands, poland, playing in legendary clubs like the dachkantine in zürich, for example..

in 2007 he started the band project "country of last things" together with christian staudacher. their music can be described as followed: on guitar and laptop they let their sounds melt together, crash, glow, swing, break, march...... moments of clarity during a long trip through kraut - and post rock fields. rough and subtle in the same time. so far, country of last things played several live shows in austria during the last year and released, after three years of intense home recording and studio work, their self titled debut album on the austrian label wireglobe recordings in october 2010.
